So my editor forwards me a press release that says RPS in big letters across the top, and of course I go, omg, Real Person Slash!!??  My job is finally getting fun!

Sadly, RPS also stands for Rock, Paper, Scissors and there are people who hold official championships of this, er, sport. I kid you not.

Way to dissapoint me, World RPS Society.

 I missed suchthefangirl's birthday yesterday, due to wonky internet in the woods, but I did think about her!

so happy belated birthday; I hope it was wonderful.

cold spell - - no shorts today!

I'm a bit panicky about what still needs to be done tomorrow, but we have baked Christmas cookies and watched Elf, so the essentials are covered.

I need to:

*finish making  four presents

*buy two presents

*write my SN holidays fic

I need to buy a new laptop. I'm getting a Dell, we've had great luck with them, looks like Vista will be the OS, but enough of that . . . what about the fun stuff?

It will have a DVD burner and built-in microphone - - do I want the built-in webcam? Why? What do you do with yours?

Is a fun color worth $50? I think it might be . . .

oh noes, my laptop is dying! the screen, to be exact, which means it has to be docked if I want to actually, you know, SEE what I'm doing. making it somewhat less of a laptop.

the good news is that, for weird tax reasons, buying a new laptop won't actually cost very much out of pocket.  

Memorizing poetry is part of schoolwork at our house, and I let my kids choose their own poems. My seven-year-old's latest selection? A Red Hat, by Gertrude Stein. Um, alrighty then. I can't wait to hear her recite it.

I have discovered the wonders of alien technology, and the hotness of Captain Jack Harkness - - BBC America is airing Torchwood. dh and I both liked the first 2 eps, although we've never watched Dr. Who. We'd probably like it even more if the cast would learn to speak English, *g*. We gave the rewind button a workout.

anyone have any good fic recommendations? actual book fic, that is. I'm burned out on non-fic at the moment, and lack the energy to seek out good alternatives.
